North Kansas City

The Northland is home to some very upscale communities and many award-winning golf courses. The National, designed by Kansas City’s own Tom Watson, is located in historic Parkville and is host to the Champions Tour PGA event. More than 600 homes on 1,000 acres will dot the landscape. Many of the home sites are heavily wooded walkout lots that overlook the golf courses. 11 neighborhoods are available, with home prices starting at $300,000 and ranging up to the very upper bracket. The members’ clubhouse is at the center of the community’s social scene. In addition to the golf facilities, the clubhouse features three restaurants. The family Activity Center offers four swimming pools, four tennis courts, a fitness center and a poolside grill.

Also located in Parkville is the community of Riss Lake. Developer Don Julian has retained the region’s natural beauty and wooded areas in his planning. The Eleventh Plat of Riss Lake has put great emphasis on permanent materials such as brick, stucco, and stone, combined with striking exterior design and lush landscaping. Amenities include a 134-acre lake, three swimming pools, tennis courts, walking trails, playgrounds and AAA-rated schools. Riss Lake is only 12 minutes from the Kansas City airport, 15 minutes to downtown and 20 minutes to the Country Club Plaza.

Another fabulous local golf community is Tiffany Springs. Developers Don Julian and Larry Modrcin have created a community of spectacular homes, luxuriant recreational opportunities and natural charm. At the center of this area’s expansive panorama is the championship 36-hole golf course. Created by Robert Trent Jones, Jr., this golf course hosted the annual TD Waterhouse Senior PGA Tour and ranks among Kansas City’s finest. Tiffany Greens will embrace more than 1,200 homes throughout 34 distinct areas, all offering proximity to the golf course. Home styles include custom designs as well as two-story, 1 ˝ -story, reverse story 1 ˝-story, and ranch-style floor plans. Home prices range from the $300,000s to well over $1 million. Gorgeous model homes and multiple spec homes are available for touring.

Shoal Creek Valley is a master planned community of about 1,700 acres located north of the Missouri River within Kansas City. Approximately 200 acres of the development comprise the new Shoal Creek Valley Golf Course. Shoal Creek Valley has been planned to provide a broad range of residential choices appealing to all ages and incomes. Neighborhoods have been designed to provide clusters of small-lot, detached homes, multi-family and town home dwellings, more exclusive larger lot home sites and golf course-oriented homes.

Kansas City has a diversified economic base. It is an internationally known Mecca of manufacturing, telecommunications and health services. Fans of professional sports can cheer for Royals baseball and Chiefs football at the worlds only matched set of football and baseball stadiums.

Also located in Kansas City is the Country Club Plaza. The plaza was built by local developer J.C. Nichols Co. in 1922 and was modeled after Seville, Spain, one of Kansas City's sister cities. One of the oldest outdoor shopping centers in the country, the plaza is home to a mix of chic, sophisticated fashion boutiques, all housed in magnificent buildings featuring Spanish tile and terra cotta rooftops.

The Northland residents are served by the North Kansas City and the Park Hill school districts, both of which foster respect and understanding among all cultures and individuals within the community.
